Our Thoughts

Welcome to my room on this last day of 2010. Hello my dear blogging friends . This is the special time of day , when I turn off the outside world and immerse myself in theraputic craft time . And to enjoy the company of like minded friends does contribute to my well being , believe me !
But to todays Sympathy card . Number 4 .
Card base is White Gloss card . I tore a rectangle of green vellum and attatched to card front . Around three sides,  on the card front ,  I doodled a frame .
Under the frame and vellum , I placed sentiment  [ Arty Stamps ] in green .
Then from my craft  stash I combined these flowers and ribbon to embellish.
Have not completed the inside but when I do I will edit post and share it with you then .
catch you again soon , cheers for now , Shirley-Anne.

Deepest Sympathy

Hello , so happy you have called into my room . Welcome.
Hope that as you browse through my posts that you find something interesting or at least a creation that whets your craft appetite  and inspires you to create your own mini work of art.
Todays card is another for my Sympathy stash . Number 3.

Naturals Ivory  with  Soft Suede sponged edges is card base .
On a light blue matte I adhered some dsp from Graphic45 , then I distressed the blue edges.
On a tag from K&Company Journal Pad,  I stamped sentiment from Stamp-It , in Soft Suede. Adding some rhinestones around bottom edge and  bow at top embellished the tag before adhering to dsp. I then adhered blue matte to card front with foam tape .

For the insert I used some of the dsp and some light blue card with deckled edges which have been gold tinted . Sorry does not show in photo .
Hope you like it .
Catch you again soon , cheers for now Shirley-anne.

With Sympathy

Hi there . Hope that you are all well . Thank you so much for calling in , I really do appreciate your visit and love it if you let me know,  via a comment .
Today I would like to share another Sympathy card with you .

I am hoping that the black card base is not too severe even for a Sympathy card . Whisper White and Pumpkin Pie layers worked together to soften the black , I think . Would you agree ?
The image in Soft Suede is " Sympathy Crane"by Yvette.
Still trying to soften the card I grouped together three flowers from my stash with a SU Rhinedtone Brad centre. Then luckily I had some similar coloured rhinestones for opposite corner.
Love the E K  corner punch , which I also used for the insert .
I am so wrapped in taking photos outside where you don't need a flash . Tried to follow some advise I had from one of my viewers [ hope you know who you are ...let me know if you think of any other words of wisdom you can pass on . ]
Thanks too to Michelle who has always encouraged me to take outside shots of cards .
Scanning does not always do your cards justice I have found .
Any way love you all lots but must go .  Catch you again soon , cheers Shirley-Anne.

Thinking of you Today

Hello everyone . Are you having a restful few days in readiness for the New Year celebrations?
Welcome to my room , where I am trying to get back into a card a day routine .

Last nights card is the first in a series of  6  Sympathy cards I need to create for my collection .
The card base is from SU , Soft Suede, with a Whisper White mat. Layered on the white mat are a panel  of Striped DSP at top , A thin strip of Soft Suede, some green ribbon and a larger panel of Soft Suede. The bottom panel has Fiskas Punched border and three punched out leaves. I added 3 flowers and stems from my stash . I placed the sentiment , from Annabelle Stamps , on the white  between panels .
Am happy with   how this card turned out , just wished I were more of a photographer.
Catch you again soon , cheers Shirley-Anne

Favourite 5 Christmas cards for 2010

Hello every-one . Hope that you are all resting now after the last few hectic days . Welcome to my room where I have been chillin' out while Doug is dozing.
I have been blog  browsing and found Deb's
Deb has offered some candy for a randomly chosen blogger who links their 5 favourite Christmas cards made for 2010.
Check out  Deb's  post
My first is using the topnote diecut , which I love and have found a popular seller .

The second.  I loved the stocking image which I stamped on card first and then again on scrap card to paper pieced and layered on top .I loved using DecorArt Snow-Tex on top of stocking .

The third . I began this card with the ribbon in mind and the rest just followed.

The next two images are of the fourth card . I chose this one because of the' pop up'  inside .

And lastly the fifth card .
And again because I love stockings . This one I could 3D the teddy in the pocket and the stars. I also liked the embossed background and felt that although it is a small card it packed a punch.
All my cards are quick and simple which is definately my style .
So without further ado I will link  these to Deb's challenge.  There are already heaps of entries and all are inspirational.
Maybe you would have chosen different cards from my " Christmas Wishes " postings.
Catch you again soon , cheers Shirley-anne .

Patchy Daisy

Hello My Blogger Friends . Welcome to my room .
Hope that you had a Wonderful Christmas Day and that you recovered well  today .
Was a sunny day here in Adelaide today , just right for a " gopher walk" for Hubby and me. If I were to give thanks ...and I do, it would be to say how grateful I am to be healthy and reasonably strong . For without these gifts / blessings I would not be able to care / support Doug through his recovery. We are just so happy that he is home . While he was resting this afternoon I had some " me " time and created this card .
The flower is from Stamp-It , Patchy Daisy Large . I used Peach Parfait ink  and a selection of SU card stock . The ribbon from my stash . The embossed layer created with Cuttlebug folder given to me as Chrissy Pressy from Sandy .

The simple  insert , is a Whisper White panel with small daisys from Hero Arts, Tiny Thank You set ,  in corners . The panel of DSP  on edge can be seen from front of card. as the  front is not as wide as back .
It was great to be back in my room for a short time today and I hope that you like the result too.
Hope to see you again soon , catch you later , Shirley-anne.

Moments

Hello every-one , welcome to my room . Hope all is well with you and yours.
The sun is peeping through grey clouds but it is still cool and windy here in Adelaide . Doug is happily at home for the day and thoroughly enjoying the experience. Again thank you to all who have sent wishes of a speedy recovery through blogs and emails .
The card I would like to share today is SU cardstock and DSP. I used a layer of the same blue to place the elements onto before adhering all with foam tape .

The flowers are from Vintage Vogue and the sentiment is from Elements of Style. I used Creamy Caramel for flowers . To achieve a lighter centre of large flower I first stamped small flower onto scratch paper before again , without reinking, onto  Naturals Ivory. The sentiment was inked in Brocade Blue.
AND BEFORE SANDY EMAILS ME!!!! I should have used the Stamp-a-ma-jig. LOL..
I added a dragon fly brad, some rhinestones   and some ribbon from my stash for embellishment.
Hope you like it .
There will be another posting tonight as I must choose a winner for my candy . So please call in again later wont you?
Catch you again later , cheers for now, Shirley-Anne.

It's your day

Hello everyone , welcome to my room . Hope that you had just the perfect weekend .
I wish Summer would return to Adelaide as I am fully over this cool spell. Doug and I went for a short walk with the gopher this morning  but dare not go far in case it rained . Still he enjoyed the outing anyway.
After he returned to the rehab centre tonight I managed a quick card .
I had the colours in mind and the layout before I began , it just took a while to match the sentiment with the image .
The card base is of SU Crumb Cake .Front is covered with dsp with a Tempting Turquoise centre panel. I placed white and green strips on both sides. I punched a scallop circle in white card and adhered to panel. The hat stamped on Certainly Celery card in Old Olive ink has been 3D on scallop circle and I paper pieced the hat band in Rose Red card . Then added flower ribbon  under that.

The sentiment is from SU set, On Your Birthday.
Loved this from start to finish , hope you like it too.
I don't think of all the misery but of
                                                        the beauty that still remains.

Chocolate Chip ink used for sentiment and edging  from SU Perfect Punches set.
For the inside I just removed the rail .I frayed the end of the cord the " held" the sign .

Thinking of you Tag

Hello everyone and welcome to my room . Hope that you are not too frazzled by your Christmas planning .
I just cant get into anything Christmassy at this stage. We were hoping that Doug would be home for Christmas , and he may well be as a home day visit , but we were banking on being HOME. Not going to be mobile or strong enough , the powers that be, say . So we will have to be happy with day outings till January. And then only weekends as he has lots of physio to do through the week .
Any way I have another card made that I have photographed outside .

Card base is Whisper White and I layered dsp from Graphic45. The tag is Crumb Cake with punched  Eyelet Border on top and bottom and all edges sponged with Creamy Caramel . I added pink ribbon and bow. The separate  framed sentiment is on Naturals Ivory inked in Soft Suede. the small flowers are from set, Cottage Garden , while the bird and words are from Cute by the Inch . The frame has been adhered to tag with foam tape .
Love you to meet Jacki before I close off . She is 13 yrs old and Doug is happy to have her visit every day.

Hope that you like the card . Catch you again soon , cheers for now , Shirley-anne.

More practice needed.

It was inked in brown and coloured with chalks , dry and wet. and blue marker for earings , rings and buttons . The Whisper White card with the image was then sponged with Peach Parfait and Summer Sun .

Wish I could add more elements to give interest .

Enjoy the rest of your night then.

New York Socialite

Hi there , welcome to my room , where it is 12.25 am . Thank you for visiting .

I only coloured the ribbon on her hat with a marker ,  used a pearl from Kaiser for her earing and made a spray of flowers from my stash tied with scrap of ribbon as embelishment.

I began with card base of Old Olive .  I created  faux stitching in white gel pen on panel of Rose Red  for the first layer. I stamped { two step} flower and stem from set Cottage Garden in inks , Rose Red and Kiwi Kiss, on Naturals Ivory card and layered that on Pumpkin pie card . Friend to Friend

Hi there, welcome to my room . What a pleasant day it was in Adelaide today. Hope that your day was just as you like it . Thank you for spending some time with me .
I was browsing through a past SU catalogue and found a card that tickled my fancy so here is my take on it .

I have tons of small strips of card stock and really need to use it up so this card which I will use in kit for Tuesday ladies will deplete the pile a little . Sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments inked in creamy Caramel.
Catch you again soon , cheers Shirley-Anne

one layer

Hi there everyone. Welcome to my room . Hope that all is right in your world today .
Turned out to be a very pleasant day here in Adelaide so Doug and I enjoyed our lunch in one of the little garden areas in Hampstead Rehab Centre . I was hoping to get some colour into his face as hospital pale is not very becoming !

Sue   recently shared  a " one layer card" which inspired me to use my favourite tree stamps.
I think sometimes this style packs a punch .

Tree from set , lovely as a Tree. Old Olive ink used , while Always Artichoke Marker used for line and sentiment , which came from Teeny  Tiny Sentiments . All on a Whisper White card.
That's it for tonight .
EDITED
Thanks Robyn have browsed the suggested blog found this link and found this card

Trees and Birds from Jennifer      I loved the scene and the tree. So I have entered my card in her challenge .
Catch you again soon cheers for now Shirley-anne

Every Moment

Hello and welcome to my room . Thank you for calling in . Hope that you are all well and crafting heaps .
Not quite so late tonight , thank goodness.
Tonight's card is a little change from my usual and I hope that you like it .
I have used a ruler with a scallop blade for the card edges . The front of the card is narrower than the back . But I have made the green insert normal size so that you can see a small edge when card closed .
Very Vanilla card base with a small panel of SU DSP and an oval diecut with Big Shot to start.  The flower and sentiment is from set , Every Moment, inked in Basic Brown and coloured with SU  Markers and white gel pen. I then finished with some bling.
Loved the sentiment .
Catch you again soon , cheers for now , Shirley-Anne.

Hello , Hello ! What mischief  have you been up to today ? Any thing you can share?  No??

I was taken for a ride last Tuesday by my crafty [ he he] friends and   shouted lunch , then to a beautiful craft shop called Paper Flourish . I don't know what I have done to deserve such dear friends .
Any way I found some Diecuts and embossing folders and some Silhouette stamps  from Stamp-it , all of which I needed so desperately...NOT!! Thank you Fran and Sandy.
So here is the card for today.

Began with Marina Mist card base. Dsp from Elegant Soiree, while images were inked in Basic Grey.
Sentiment is from set , On your Birthday, on Whisper White and punched out with Curly Label Extra Large . I used Scallop Edge Punch on card under image .
Another of my simple , quick cards.

Final Christmas cards

Hi there everyone, welcome to my room . Are your Christmas cards all ready to post? Did you make your own little tags for those gifts ? Are mine...did I ....NO!!          Next year.
Hope that you are all well and still managing to have some craft time .
Today I was able to make these two Christmas cards and I think that will be my 50 for Robyn's challenge to make 50 by 1st December. PHEW!

SU card stock and DSP   were  used for  cards . Stamp sets are A wish for Peace and Christ is Born for the first card , while Perfect Punches set  ,  the scallop Circle Punch and 13/8" Circle Punch were used on second card.
I have enjoyed creating each and every one of the 50 Christmas cards so thank you to Robyn for setting the challenge . See my side bar for her link to see her amazing cards too.
SO GLAD TO BE BACK!
Hope you like the cards tonight , thanks for calling by.
Catch you again soon , cheers for now , Shirley-Anne.
