Just a quick post tonight as the power has been off most of the afternoon here ...my craft time would you believe ..and I am behind with kits  for tomorrow . Mind you this evening I have been blogging on my challenge group . But that story is  for another time .

Good afternoon everyone. Welcome to my room . Just spoke to our Son in Roxby Downs and the temperature there is over 40 . I think it is that here too. I'm here thinking of Mina , who has often suggested that I could send some of our warm weather her way as it is snowing in her area . Well Mina please take it!!
I am so over hot ...
Any way , remember a few days ago when I said that I would like to try and add more embellishment to my cards . Here is another of my attempts to do just that .

First Christmas Card 2011.

Hello everyone . Welcome to my room where it is so cool ...that's not " hip speak" , it really is cool in here .  I don't think I have ever been labeled as " cool' . It must be 40 degrees outside here in Adelaide .

A little group which I have joined is banding together to share our Christmas cards for 2011.
This will be my first to share .

Hi there so glad you popped in .Welcome to my room . Hope that you are finding something special about your day that makes you glad to be alive.
I have made a card today that I would like to send to somebody . I'd like to send a little sunshine to someone who may be in a winter enviroment or someone who just needs a hug .

Something new for me

 ...In the centre of the flowers I used some SU crystal effects and while it was still wet I added some micro beads from my stash .

I would like to enter this in the challenge #83 'Spring'  from Moving Along with the Times

I think this card has a' Spring ' feel to it . What do you think?

Good evening , how are you on this our Australia Day? Hope that you have had a perfectly enjoyable  day with family and friends . Welcome to my room .
Todays card turned out just as I planned . It was great ...I went to my stamp stash,  found exactly the images and sentiment I wanted, no fuss,  and I even had the right size rhinestones I needed . Amazing !!

Vintage Lady

Hello blogging friends . Welcome to my room . Hope that you are having a great weekend and thank you for taking time to pop in on me.
Only spent a short time in my room today due to house chores and visitors . But I did manage this card . Hope you like it . I want to add it to a challenge which was for a vintage card. All I have to do is find out where I saw it .

  I tried to ruffle ribbon ..definately need more practice. I distressed the  edge of the Melon Mambo layer , added paper and embellishments before adding to card with foam tape .

A quick Get Well card

Hi there , welcome to my room . Hope that you and yours are well . Really hot here in Adelaide today , and I am so happy that our unit is easy to keep cool . Great for crafting . Today's card is in my usual style , quick and simple .

We have a friend who has been in hospital for a few days and who,  for one reason or another,  can't have flowers in her room . This,  I thought , was the next best thing  to cheer her up.

The stamp [ Fragrant Letter from Penny Black]   is one I have had FOR EVER.

The sentiment is from Art Impressions. Both inked with Basic Brown.  Envelope  image on Whisper White ,  coloured with various markers and adhered with foam tape . The card and papers from Simply Scrappin set , Love Birds. I added black rhinestones for flower centres.

Fiskars Punch used for decorative edge.

Hello my friends , hope you are all well . Welcome to my room . Just an update on Doug's progress. Thank you for all the Get Well Wishes he has received and to all those who have kept us in their thoughts and Prayers . Doug is so much more mobile now , not leaning on me at all when using his walking frame . His speech is really  clearer  and his appetite is returning . A long way to go yet but heading in right direction .
Well last night I made a card using a technique I had not thought about for ages .
I don't know the name for it but it's this....

Using an embossing folder and leaving a clear piece/ shape  for sentiment or an image . Mmm.. that   clear , not sure , but I'll try to show you .. This is the card I created

 The image is stamped onto unembossed oval shape . To achieve this I made a template from two pieces of cardboard taped together and  with an oval cut out. This is called a shim .

See how I have drawn shape of folder onto this template so that  I can see where oval cutout will be when I place the folder and cardstock on it . Then I place cardstock into folder as usual

And emboss with Big Shot. EDITTED HERE..

This is where you place the folder and card on top of the cardboard before running through the machine . Embossing is all about pressure , so where the oval is,  will be no pressure for the folder to impress the pattern from the folder onto card. The cardboard acts as a "thickness for added pressure"

For this example I chose this sentiment from Penny Black.

Rose Red card base with Whisper White card for embossing . Basic Black ink for image from Art Impressions. Sponged edges with Rose Red ink and black Rhinestones as embellishing .

Hi there , welcome to my room . It's a glorious day here in Adelaide , and here I am enjoying your company , so all is good. Hope you are all well.
Thank heavens for digital cameras ! I have taken 25 shots of this card and this is the best  I could choose . My card today is my take on a swap I had recently from Ally.
The flower panel is a piece of Acetate embossed with Big Shot folder , Elegant Bouquet.

And the reason for the difficulty is that the acetate reflected light in any  angle I tried.

I used a white Pigment Ink Pen to colour the underside of the daisys and a green marker for stems .

The larger  white panel is also embossed and hard to see . The black card under the acetate is embossed with Dots folder.

 The card base is Glossy White with a Basic Black mat . I then adhered a smaller Marina Mist piece. I used more of this card to punch [EK] a lattice work strip, to add to bottom edge. Over this I added a Marina Mist ribbon and bow.

The sentiment from SU Tiny Tags is on Small Scallop Circle edges sponged with  Brocade Blue  ink .

Might have to have another go at this card and photography.

Still I hope you have got the idea , it really looks better in real life .

A Gate Fold Card

Hello once more , dear blogging friends . Welcome to my room . Hope that you are all happy and in good health . Just the last few days my mojo went AWOL. So I have been reading,  blog browsing and flipping through my stash of card examples [ swaps] . I ended up finding inspiration  on  Sandy's blog .
Sandy has many creations other than cards and her works of art are truly worth a visit . What inspired me was her  layering of many elements on a card.
So here I am sharing with you today's card .

Cardstock is from SU . The  Old Olive  panels for gate fold have been embossed with Provo Craft Folder for added texture . I have used  a wood flourish , a butterfly , leaves and flowers from my stash  for embellishing . Oh and added self adhesive pearls in corners .

For the inside I have used Old Olive layer with pale blue piece with deckled edges touched  with gold pen. It looked a little bare so I found a precut butterfly in my stash to add to bottom corner .
I am really happy with this card today so hoping you like it too.

Pillow Boxes

Hello everyone , welcome to my room . Hope that you are all well and enjoying some craft time .
Just a quick blog tonight because I would like to browse other blogs and see if there  are any challenges that I might be able to enter . 
I will share some thing I tried in my craft morning . Using my bigz Die , Pillow Box and varied

SU card stock along with more from my stash , this is what one of our projects was today.

Once my friends had die cut their 3 boxes I just brought out my stash of flowers ,  ribbons ,brads and stamps and left them to it . These on show here were my examples to inspire them ....hopefully . I think showed them the possible varied embellishing that could be used .

Birthday Celebrations

Hi there every one. Welcome to my room .
I am sure that you all are aware of the dramatic events that are happening as we speak. I am refering to the States of Queensland  and New South Wales and may be others that I am not aware of , where record floods are devastating lives and landscape. I know that times are tough for many of us and money donations may be hard to find , so do you think that just maybe you could rummage through your linen press or wardrobe and find some items that you could spare for the Red Cross / Salvation Army?  In any event ,please keep all those who are affected by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers .
                             But now onto today's card .
I started out with a man's card in mind but not sure if I ended up with one .

Very overcast here in Adelaide so photo not so bright .
Soft Suede and Naturals Ivory and scrap of blue cardstock  used . Butterfly from All A Flutter, SU. Inks , Soft Suede and Pacific Point.  Sentiment from Upsy Daisy set SU. Chocolate Chip ribbon SU. Scallop Trim Border Punch SU used on Ivory layer and I added little pearls inbetween each scallop. . Butterflys wings are curled and  are both   adhered with foam tape .
In any case I ended up with a creation I rather like so ...all good!
I am off now to go through Kitchen cupboards to see if I really need 3 potato mashers, 4 eggflips , those 6 new teatowels ...

Happy Birthday tag

Hi there fellow bloggers , hope you are well . Welcome to my room .
Today's card is showcasing a gift from Sue .  Sue sent me some lovely crochet flowers recently and now I thought that they would suit this card . Hopefully Sue thinks so too . Thank you again Sue .
Today's card

The card base is Glossy White . Onto  a smaller piece of  red cardstock I adhered a piece of floral material,  .At the bottom I added some green dot ribbon and lace, before adding to card front .  . I placed Sue's lovely flowers on the left side with pearls as centres . The tag  is from K&Company. And the sentiment is from  Hero Arts.
I also added more pearls in top corners .

Hope that you like this  card as I was quite pleased with my effort to add more embellishments than is usual for me .

Good evening , how are you all ? Welcome to my room . Are you one for sending Valentine cards? I have not for years but I used to leave love  notes if that counts . Doug used to be a cook in a highways camp so he used to be away from home often for a few days at a time . So ...when I packed his bag I would leave little notes in his folded sox for instance or in his toiletry bag . And if I were going to be away from home , which was not often , I would leave little notes in odd places around the home for him to find . Mmmmm memories LOL
Now for today I have made two cards which are so very different in style . No recipe really as they were made with  all sorts from my stash .

This one has a Heidi Grace clear overlay sentiment which says

The floral background is a piece of material that I've had in my stash for EVER!!

The  humorous  card is more along the type of note I would leave in hiding .

A pair of Birthday cards

Goodness 8th January already . Hello there , welcome to my room .
Will share a little of Doug's progress with you . Today he achieved another milestone! He walked quite a distance , with his walker but without me holding onto him . Standing straight up and negotiating table and chair quite well. We are very pleased with his progress .
I hope that you are all well and managing some craft time . I notice that a few of our blog friends are back from Christmas break .

All Happy Birthdays

Hi there everyone . Welcome to my room . Hope you are all well and happy . Sharing with you  3 cards I made for todays  session with 3 of my crafting buddies .

Firstly I took an A4 Whisper White card and randomly stamped 3 images  , some second generation stamping done . Inks were Old Olive , Pumpkin Pie , Pacific Point and Baja Breeze [ which has not shown up here ]

Now for the 3 cards . I was inspired by a magazine article read while filling in time at rehab centre with Doug and I have forgotten which it was .

Here I cut 3 squares of the stamped A4 , placed them on a Bashful Blue card, then onto Old Olive card with punched edge and before placing on card front,  I randomly stamped leaf in Poppy Parade ink onto Poppy Parade card base. I stamped sentiment from Well Scripted set in Old Olive and used a tag punch to frame. Only used a self adhesive flower embellishment on tag , before setting onto card front with foam tape .

Sentiment for this one is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments .

I had quite a bit of the stamped A4 sheet left so might make another two cards [ or more ] and show you later . I still like to use this idea occasionally even though I have a mountain of paper stock on hand .
For all cards I used ..Poppy Parade , Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie ,  Old Olive and Whisper White cardstock.

Swap card for Ally

Hello Blogging friends . Welcome to my room . These days it is taking me longer to create , photograph and post,  but that's ok,  just as long as I DO!   And I'm sorry I don't get to comment  on your blog as much as I should , even though I do visit as  many of you as often as I can .
I would like to share , with you, a swap card which is WELL OVERDUE! Sorry Ally.

Not sure that the  3D sentiment is classed as a layer but this is what I came up with .

The card base is Rose Red and the embossed layer is So Safron. The embossing folder is Elegant Bouquet SU / Sizzix. The sentiment, from Every Day Messages ,  in Rose Red, has been punched out with SU Curly Label Extra Large . I added colour to centre of flowers  with a marker and a self adhesive pearl.

Using a Sizzix Trading Card diecut for two layers as insert , with a little embossing in one corner .

Hope Ally thinks it suits our  swap and hope you like it too.

Old Car

Hello everyone . Hope you are enjoying your day where ever you are and what ever you are doing .
Welcome to my room . I have had so many emails , phone calls and facebook messages today with Birthday Wishes , I feel quite spoilt . The nicest pressy  I recieved today was from 3 wonderful little boys who sang the best, the loudest,and the most cheery  rendition of Happy Birthday Nanna anyone could ever wish to hear. ...Thank you Michelle .
In between all this joy , I did manage a card .

Am getting frustrated with photos though . My sentiments often get blurred . May be I will have to look for a new camera .

All cardstock is from SU the image is from Kaszazz and dsp from Kaisercraft.

Have to top up Male card and Youth card stash , so after a couple more

Sympathy cards will have to start on those .

Get Well

Happy New Year to all my friends , old and new . May health and Happiness be yours in abundance .
Too late a night last night . Not that I saw the new year in,  but was woken by others celebrating . I tell you this only because I had a nanny nap this afternoon instead of making a card .
